Influence of oxide scale on forging production

1. As a result of the influence of oxide scale, the size of the blank needs to be increased, which also increases the cost.

2. As we know, the most forge scales are generated during induction heating process. The scale produced by the heating furnace directly affects the machining quality of the forging surface. Our descaling machines are mainly devoted to solving furnace scale problems.

3. During the hot forging process, part of the oxide scale will be squeezed into the forgings, which will increase the amount of subsequent machining and even cause waste products.

4. When the heated blank is forged and inevitably moves in the die tool, the scales will adhere to mould surface and this is negative for the surface of the die tools. If the oxide scales are not removed they will obviously increase the surface wear of abrasive tools and reduce the die service life. Forge scales will also cause the wear of forging equipment and reduce the efficiency of equipment use;

To a great extent, the workload of the subsequent cutting process is increased which will increase the production cost. Furthermore, the forging scale is sometimes very hard. It will be rolled into forging surface if not removed before die forging. Pits with different depths will be formed and this will cause uneven surface. So a large margin must be left so the forging surface quality could be ensured in the subsequent machining process.

Significance of high pressure water descaling machine for forging parts

High-pressure water descaling technology mainly uses the effects of thermal change, impact, vibration and erosion caused by high-pressure water jet on the surface of forging blank. Under the injection of high-pressure water, the scale on forging blank surface is locally quenched and rapidly contracted, thus expanding the crack of scale and partially warping it, and the deformed scale is easily broken under the impact of high-pressure water jet. High-pressure water enters between the iron scale and the forging blank to generate a water wedge, which plays the role of peeling off the iron scale. At the same time, the water entering between the iron scale and the forging blank will explosively evaporate into steam at high temperature, accelerating the separation of the iron scale; The residual flow of water jet will clean the broken and peeled iron scale from the surface washing of forging blank, and realize the scale descaling on the surface of forging blank.
